Community Spirit

Landscape Concepts is extremely proud to be a part of the Hutchinson community, and we try to be very civic-minded. Hutchinson is a town of about 14,000 and people notice when we do something. The Jaycees host the town's Water Carnival celebration along with a pageant, for which we set up the stage. It includes running water backdrops, lighted pillars and all kinds of plant materials . We've been told it rivals the Minneapolis Aquatennial pageant. We also participate in the parade with a float.

When the hospice house was built, we were a fairly new company working in the same block on a large pond project. We noticed that the trees and shrubs had been planted, but there was no turf. After some inquiries, we learned that they had run out of money, and were going to seed the lawn. Seeding can be every bit as good as sod, but the open house was just a couple of weeks away. So, we got together with the local sod company; they donated the sod, and we donated the installation.

In the fall, we participate in a career day at the local college which exposes 10th and 11th graders to careers in horticulture with a hands-on landscaping project. We give whatever we can to organizations dealing with sports, scouts, and anything that benefits our youth. We've even let various schools "borrow" plants for plays, proms, etc.

Owner Juli Neubarth is a member of the Hutchinson Ambassadors, and she was recently appointed to a 5-year term on the airport commission (with flying being her other passion!).
